Maitake Products, Inc. (MPI), E. Rutherford, NJ announced that its trademark "GXM-FRACTION" has been registered with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office as of March 10, 2009. The registration number is 3,588,856.

GXM-FRACTION® is a proprietary extract product made from Tremella mushroom (Tremella fuciformis) and developed by MPI specifically as a raw material for cosmetic preparations and skin-care products. MPI has vigorously been promoting the Tremella mushroom for several years, featuring its strong moisture retaining ability (more than the popular hyaluronic acid) and rich content of Vitamin D. "Super Tremella" is now one of the most popular dietary supplement products amongst the Mushroom Wisdom® line. In April, 2006, MPI launched its first skin-care product, the paraben-free Aquamella®, for moisturizing and anti-aging effects, based on GXM-FRACTION®, this unique Tremella extract.

GXM-FRACTION® has been used not only for MPI's own skin cream, Aquamella®, but also for La Prairie's anti-aging lines, such as Advance Marine Biology Night Solution and Advance Marine Biology Tonic.
