Maitake Products, Inc.(MPI), E. Rutherford,
NJ announced today that the mark "PET FRACTION" has been registered with the
U.S. Patent & Trademark Office as of December 2, 2008 with Reg.# 3,542,114.
PET FRACTION® is a
name of MPI's flag-ship product, Maitake D-Fraction®, for the pet version and
has been on the U.S. veterinarian market since May, 2005. Its strong immune enhancement effects for
dogs and cats has been confirmed by various researchers in Japan, including Dr.
T. Shimada (then with Osaka Prefecture University) and thousands of
veterinarians have been using the products in Japan for that purpose. It is now
regarded as the top-selling dietary supplement for pets under the category in
Japan.
In the United
States, Dr. S. Konno of New York Medical College, among the other researchers,
has been conducting the studies on growth inhibitory effects of PET FRACTION on
various canine cancer cells, such as CF21, CF33 and CL-1 and concluded that it
is capable of exerting a significant effect on the growth of those cancer
cells.
MPI had initially
launched the product under the name of "DVM FRACTION" but has changed it to PET
FRACTION® since 2006.
