“Enhance Your Immune System to Fight Against Cancer!” – Emphasized by Mike Shirota of Maitake Products

June 17, 2007 - A seminar titled "Immune System and Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) for Cancer" was held at a meeting of the Young Japanese Breast Cancer Network (BC Network, founded and operated by Ms. Makiko Yamamoto), at Takashimaya Department in New York City, NY.

The majority of the audience was people with a keen interest in breast cancer and the various aspects of CAM were discussed during the 90-minute seminar offering a better understanding of this cancer treatment.

The speaker, Mike Shirota, founder and CEO of Maitake Products, Inc., described the roots of CAM in this country, emphasizing the development of CAM and its background, including the legislation of DHEA law in 1994. He concluded that such movement has contributed to the continued decline of the death rate of cancer patients.

Shirota also stressed the importance of maintaining a strong immune system in our daily lives in order to fight against cancer, and a few anti-cancer food sources, such as colored vegetables, seaweeds, and mushrooms, were discussed for their immune enhancing property.

In addition, as the primary subject of this seminar was breast cancer, Shirota recommended certain dietary supplements such as Vitamins E, D, and A; Omega-3 and melatonin as well as our renowned Grifron Maitake D-Fraction® (combined with Vitamin C) and Mushroom Wisdom™ Super Tremella.

The audience was very attentive and vigorous questions arose during and after the talk. The seminar was full of feverish excitement and concluded in much success.

Young Japanese Breast Cancer Network (BC Network):

The number of Japanese women in this country diagnosed with breast cancer is increasing rapidly. Women in their 20's through 40's experience many changes in their lives, e.g.; working at their jobs, getting married, and raising families. And if she is diagnosed breast cancer, she has to deal with many challenges. While going through breast cancer treatment, they also have to face language barriers, differences of medical systems in both countries and future fertility issues after cancer treatments. BC Network is a non-profit organization which supports such Japanese women by providing information on cancer treatment as well as a place for individuals to exchange such information.
